Gestion EFC inc of Groupe Cardinal announced that it has acquired Mécanique Industrielle de Québec. "We are quite proud of our acquisition", declared Mr. Gaétan Bernèche, President of Groupe Cardinal, a group specialized in the design, manufacture and sale of high performance equipment for sawmill operations. Since 1980, Cardinal has offered a range of high performance products for sawing, cutting and debarking, as well as equipment for handling raw materials. Moreover, Cardinal distributes equipment designed for forestry and recycling industries.

"Under Cardinal's long range development plan, we have been looking for opportunities that would allow us to diversify and increase our market. The product line and expertise of Mécanique Industrielle de Québec attracted our interest because it was different while being compatible to our own", added Mr. Bernèche. MIQ specializes in high precision machining, as well as fabrication and assembly of mechanical items. It serves an international calibre clientele in several industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, hydroelectricity, iron and steel mills. "We decided to take advantage of the opportunity that was offered to us to acquire this business. It will enable Cardinal to penetrate other markets while, at the same time, Cardinal's economic stability and stable management will reassure MIQ clients, thus allowing MIQ to continue it's activities and it's development. The quality of products offered by MIQ is unquestionable and we will stand behind the company to ensure it's prosperity", concluded Mr. Bernèche.
